Discover the Critical Reading lessons in Week 10 about Routine Vaccinations and Senior Volunteers

The goal for our Week 10 lessons is to teach critical reading and thinking skills using current news about “Why routine vaccinations for kids
are especially important this year” (Level 1 lesson) and “Many older volunteers waiting out COVID-19 and looking forward to serving again” (Level 2 lesson).

Some of the exercises of this week’s Level 1 lesson include:

  • Vocabulary about medical terms and vaccinations
  • “Adequacy of Data”: Reviewing and discussing evidence
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss vaccines and their effects
  • More exercises are available in the Extensions Activities

Some of the exercises of this week’s Level 2 lesson include:

  • Vocabulary about COVID and volunteering
  • “Author’s Purpose”: Discuss the intention of the author
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss the effect COVID has had on volunteering
