Week 13 is about Healthy Holiday Meals plus Not to Yell at Dogs

The objective for our Week 13 lessons is to teach critical reading and thinking skills using current news about “Mayo Clinic Minute: A healthy approach to holiday meals” (Level 1 lesson) and “Commentary: For dogs’ sake, please stop yelling” (Level 2 lesson).

Some of the exercises of this week’s Level 1 lesson include:

  • Vocabulary: Antonyms related to holiday meals
  • “Characterization”: Discuss words related to holiday meals
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss things people do at holiday meals

  • Vocabulary and idioms related to how to treat dogs
  • “Author’s Purpose”: Discuss the author’s intent
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss methods for training dogs
