Use Week 14 Lessons to Teach Students Socializing Tips and Whether You Should Lick Envelopes During the Pandemic

The objective for our Week 14 lessons is to teach critical reading and thinking skills using current news about “Barton Goldsmith: Some socializing tips to improve your online connections” (Level 1 lesson) and “Balancing Act: Should you avoid licking your holiday card envelopes during a COVID-19 pandemic? We asked an expert” (Level 2 lesson).

Some of the exercises of this week’s Level 1 lesson include:

  • Vocabulary: Multimeaning words related to socializing
  • Main Idea & Key Details: Discuss the key ideas about socializing tips for online meetings
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss ideas about socializing online
  • More exercises are available in the Extensions Activities

  • Vocabulary:  Dictionary and contextual clues about how COVID spreads
  • Structural Features: Compare and contract topics about COVID
  • “Drawing Conclusions Making Inferences”: Discuss the dangers of COVID
